Tinubu Mandates Health Insurance for Nigerian Government Workers

President Bola Tinubu has directed the implementation of mandatory health insurance across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) in Nigeria in line with the National Health Insurance Act 2022. The directive requires MDAs to enroll employees in the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) plan and obtain valid Health Insurance Certificates for eligibility in public procurement processes.

This move aims to ensure comprehensive health coverage for government workers and enhance engagement with the private sector. By enforcing mandatory health insurance, the government seeks to improve access to quality healthcare services and promote a healthier workforce across various sectors in Nigeria.
