Onochie Claims End of Tinubu Era Amid El-Rufai Incident

Lauretta Onochie, a former aide to the president, reacted to a recent incident at Abuja's Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport involving former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai. Onochie reported that security operatives attempted to detain El-Rufai upon his return to Nigeria, which she described as a situation she had predicted, suggesting a possible arrest.

She indicated that this move was politically motivated, aimed at preventing certain political actors from replicating the achievements of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2023 elections. Onochie stated that the political era of President Bola Tinubu is over and expressed her sentiments through a prayer for Nigeria.

El-Rufai, in response, labeled the attempted arrest as illegal and stated that his lawyer, Ubong Esop Akpan, had received a letter from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) inviting him to the country.
