Pressure Increases on Kidnappers of Oyo Schoolchildren

Pressure is intensifying on the abductors of 39 schoolchildren and seven teachers who were kidnapped on May 15, 2023, in Oriire Local Government Area, Oyo State. Following the invasion of the Ahoro, Esinl, Yawota, and Alawusa communities, security agencies have identified the kidnappers and are conducting operations across various parts of the country.

The Department of State Services (DSS) is leading these efforts, utilizing credible intelligence to trace the kidnappers. Recent operations have reportedly led to the apprehension of some bandits, increasing the likelihood of the victims' release.

The kidnappers have been identified as members of the Jama'atu Ansarul Muslimeena Fi Biladi Sudan and a faction of Boko Haram. The DSS is working in collaboration with military personnel to locate the kidnappers' hideouts, applying psychological pressure to encourage the release of the hostages.

The situation remains tense as security forces continue their clampdown on the kidnapping gang.
