Troops Intensify Rescue Efforts for Abducted Schoolchildren

Troops are closing in on the hideout of kidnappers in the Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, Nigeria, where 39 schoolchildren and seven teachers were abducted on June 15 during an invasion of the Baptist Nursery and Primary School in Yawota and Esiel. The Nigerian Army is intensifying rescue efforts, surrounding the kidnappers' location within a national park forest to prevent possible escape.

Former Head of State General Abdulsalami Abubakar has called for a united effort among Nigerian security agencies to combat terrorism and violent crime. The kidnappers have resorted to brutal tactics, including threats to kill hostages, as they demand the unconditional release of detained terrorist commanders in exchange for the victims.

The Nigerian security forces have reported significant successes against terrorist groups, neutralizing at least 168 high-profile terrorists in recent operations. President Bola Tinubu has issued a strong warning regarding the ongoing battle against terrorism, emphasizing that the fight will continue until all criminals are eliminated.
