Food prices in Nigeria are a major concern for households, with significant variations across markets. A 50kg bag of local rice is priced at approximately ₦55,000, while foreign rice costs around ₦65,000.

For smaller quantities, a 25kg bag of foreign rice is about ₦33,000. Beans are priced between ₦85,000 and ₦125,000 for a 100kg bag, with brown beans costing between ₦85,000 and ₦115,000 and white beans ranging from ₦85,000 to ₦125,000.

A Derica measure of beans is sold for ₦1,000 to ₦1,600. Fresh food prices vary seasonally, with a basket of tomatoes priced between ₦28,000 and ₦45,000, a big sack of pepper from ₦32,000 to ₦60,000, and a bag of onions between ₦60,000 and ₦115,000.

Vegetable oil prices range from ₦65,000 to ₦95,000 for a 25-litre container. Poultry prices vary, with live broiler chickens costing between ₦10,000 and ₦23,000, and frozen chicken priced at ₦5,000 to ₦7,500 per kilogram.
