Yushau Shuaib Appeals N1bn Suit Dismissal Against NIPSS

Yushau Shuaib, the founder and Chief Executive Officer of PRNigeria, is set to appeal a ruling by Justice Binta Nyako of the Federal High Court in Abuja, which dismissed his N1 billion lawsuit against the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS). The court ruled that NIPSS acted within its disciplinary powers when it withdrew Shuaib's senior executive status, citing a breach of the institute's confidentiality rules.

Justice Nyako stated that Shuaib had not been given a fair hearing and was bound by an oath of confidentiality. Following the judgment, Shuaib expressed disappointment, arguing that the court failed to distinguish between his personal conduct and the editorial independence of PRNigeria.

He claims that the judgment did not address his allegations that NIPSS unlawfully accessed his private email communications, violating his constitutional right to privacy. The suit, filed on July 7, 2025, sought N1 billion in damages, reinstatement of his position, and a declaration of violations of his rights.
