Osun Speaker Calls for Probe into Life Threat Incident

Adewale Egbedun, the Speaker of the Osun State House of Assembly, has called for an investigation by Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu into a threat to his life following an incident involving Adewale Adeyinka, the Executive Chairman of Odo Otin Local Government. Egbedun reported that he received a distress call from Adeyinka while returning from a World Press Conference, stating he was being pursued by a three-vehicle convoy.

Egbedun advised Adeyinka to seek safety at the Okuku Divisional Police Station. Upon arrival, he learned that two men had been apprehended by the public, and a firearm was recovered.

Concerned about potential mob action, Egbedun instructed his Chief Detail to secure the suspects and later directed their transfer to Osogbo for handover to the Department of State Services. He called for a thorough investigation into the identities of the apprehended individuals, the circumstances of the firearm recovery, and the vehicles involved.

Egbedun also rejected misleading narratives circulated by APC supporters and linked the incident to a viral threat video against him and his party members.
