Igbo Lawyers Petition CJN Over South-East Exclusion

Ben Ihesiulo, argue that the process has marginalized the South-East, with only Ebonyi State being considered. They assert that this exclusion violates explicit statutory directives and undermines the integrity of the appointment process, which they claim has brought disrepute to the judiciary.

The petition highlights that the South-East zone is entitled to at least two additional slots, given the current distribution of justices across other geopolitical zones. The society urges the Chief Justice to halt the appointment exercise until a thorough investigation into the alleged discrepancies is conducted, emphasizing the need for fairness and representation in judicial appointments.
