Prof Maryam Abdu Takes Charge as CeProd Council President

Prof Maryam Abdu has been appointed as the president of the governing council of CeProd, succeeding Professor Sandeep Kumar Gupta, who was the pioneer president. In her acceptance speech, Abdu stated that her leadership would focus on "continuity with improvement," building on CeProd's achievements while addressing challenges such as artificial intelligence, digital transformation, climate change, and global economic uncertainties.

She emphasized that productivity should be viewed as finding smarter ways to work rather than merely working harder, asserting that it must become a national development priority for Nigeria and other African countries to convert their potential into prosperity. Abdu outlined CeProd's focus areas, including public-sector efficiency, private-sector competitiveness, entrepreneurship, workforce development, and organizational excellence.

She called for productivity measurement and performance improvement to be integrated into the management culture of various institutions. Additionally, she highlighted the need for promoting technology-driven productivity and innovation, as well as fostering collaboration among CeProd Fellows and members.
