Support Groups Boost Tinubu's Re-election Bid, Says Ijabiyi

Ijabiyi, the chairman of the Ondo PBAT Elders Forum, stated that the emergence of various support groups for President Bola Tinubu's re-election is a healthy sign, not a fragmentation of the All Progressives Congress (APC). During the 2023 presidential election, Tinubu had over 3,000 voluntary support groups across Nigeria, reflecting the enthusiasm of party members and supporters.

The PBAT Elders Forum was established as a platform for APC elders in Ondo State to coordinate efforts in promoting Tinubu's second-term ambition. Ijabiyi initially sought support from the governor but turned to Hon.

Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the Minister of Interior, who embraced the initiative. The groups operate independently and are formed by individuals who believe in a candidate's vision.

The controversy in Ondo State arose when many groups sought financial support from Tunji-Ojo, who has been actively supporting pro-Tinubu initiatives, leading to his increased visibility and popularity in the state.
