Witness Links Sylva to Alleged Coup Plot Against Tinubu

In a Federal High Court in Abuja, a prosecution witness testified that several suspects, including former Bayelsa State Governor Timipre Sylva, were involved in a coup plot to overthrow President Bola Tinubu. The defendants, including retired Major Generals and other military personnel, face 13 counts, including treason and terrorism.

The prosecution presented evidence from financial institutions, linking the suspects to monetary transactions that allegedly funded the coup plot. The court heard that intelligence reports received by the Chief of Army Staff, Olufemi Oluyede, indicated credible threats, prompting formal investigations.

The evidence included the recovery of electronic devices containing operational plans and names of individuals involved in the alleged conspiracy. The defense argued against the witness's assertions, claiming the allegations remain unproven.
