Activists Soweto and Dele Frank Arraigned Over Lagos State Assembly Protest

The Lagos State Police Command arraigned activists Hassan Taiwo "Soweto" and Dele Frank in court over their alleged involvement in a protest against illegal demolitions and forced evictions. The activists faced five charges, including conspiracy, breach of public peace, unlawful assembly, and obstruction of traffic.

The prosecutor, Anthony Ihiehi, accused them of committing the offenses on January 28, 2026, at Allen Avenue, Alausa, within the premises of the Lagos State House of Assembly. Renowned human rights lawyer Femi Falana SAN appeared to defend the activists, arguing against objections raised by the prosecution.

The court granted bail to Taiwo and Frank, adjourning the case until March 3, 2026.
