Activists Face Trial Over Lagos Anti-Demolition Protest, Femi Falana Defends in Court

Activists Hassan Taiwo (Soweto) and Dele Frank Yaba were arraigned in a Lagos court by the Lagos State Police Command for their roles in a protest against illegal demolitions and forced evictions by the Lagos State House of Assembly. The activists faced charges including conspiracy, breach of peace, unlawful assembly, and obstruction of traffic.

During the trial, human rights lawyer Femi Falana defended the activists, arguing for their right to legal representation regardless of rank. The magistrate granted the activists bail of N200,000 each and adjourned the case to March 3, 2026.
