Protest Erupts in Anambra Over APGA Primaries Results

On Friday, a significant protest occurred at the Anambra State Government House in Awka, where thousands of supporters from Oyi Local Government Area expressed their discontent over the results of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) primaries. The protesters claimed that the primaries, held the previous Saturday, were manipulated, resulting in Mr.

Kosisochukwu Ibemesi being announced as the candidate for the Anambra State House of Assembly elections next year, despite Hon. Innoc Ojik being the popular choice.

Uchenna Oraegbunam, the state auditor of APGA, led the peaceful protest, urging Governor Prof. Chukwuma Soludo to intervene.

Protesters carried placards demanding the return of the popular candidate, Ojik, and expressed their surprise and disappointment at the announcement of Ibemesi as the winner. Dr.

Okechi Vincent Egbuna, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the Governor, addressed the crowd, assuring them that the governor would consider their requests and that a fair resolution would be sought.
