Kaduna Protesters Demand Audit of El-Rufai's Tenure

On Thursday, protesters stormed the Kaduna Government House, demanding an independent public audit of former Governor Nasir El-Rufai's administration. The demonstration, led by figures like Abubakar Idris, known as Dadiyata, and Ana Yusuf, comprised youth and women who gathered at UTC Roundabout in Kaduna metropolis.

They chanted solidarity songs and carried placards calling for scrutiny of El-Rufai's tenure, particularly regarding a $350 million loan from the World Bank. The protesters highlighted ongoing insecurity and the unresolved disappearance of activist Joseph Chori as critical issues.

Yusuf emphasized that the protest was not politically motivated but aimed at accountability, stating that Kaduna residents deserve transparency regarding public funds. The group insisted on a thorough examination of the loan agreement and how the funds were spent, asserting that citizens should be informed about public debt.

El-Rufai has denied involvement in Chori's disappearance and criticized the current administration's handling of security issues.
