PSC Promotes Seven AIGs to Deputy Inspector General Rank

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has elevated seven Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) to the rank of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) in a move intended to strengthen the leadership cadre of the Nigeria Police Force. The promoted officers include Zachariah Fera, formerly AIG Zone 4 Makurdi; Zango Ibrahim Baba, AIG Department of Logistics and Supply; Isyaku Moham, AIG Armament Force Headquarters Abuja; Margaret Ageb Ochalla, AIG FCID Annex Lagos; Moham Abdul Sulaiman, AIG Police Account Budget Force Headquarters; Kenechukwu Onwuemeli, AIG Zone 15 Maiduguri; and Umar Shehu Nadada, AIG Zone 14 Katsina.

This promotion follows the recent elevation of DIG Fayoad Adegok and aims to fill vacancies left by the retirement of eight DIGs. PSC Chairman DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu urged the newly promoted officers to uphold the highest professional standards and prioritize national security.

The commission also plans to collaborate with the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) to screen 50,000 constables in a significant recruitment drive scheduled to commence on March 9, 2026.
