PSC Promotes 7 AIGs to DIGs, Emphasizes Professionalism

The Police Service Commission (PSC) has promoted seven Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs) to the rank of Deputy Inspectors General of Police (DIGs) as part of efforts to strengthen the leadership cadre of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). This promotion, announced in a press statement by the PSC's head of protocol and public affairs, Torti Kalu, took place on a Friday in Abuja and was based on merit, seniority, and performance in written examinations and oral interviews conducted earlier.

The newly promoted DIGs include Zachariah Fera, formerly AIG of Zone 4 Makurdi; Zango Ibrahim Baba, formerly AIG of the Department of Logistics and Supply; Isyaku Moham, formerly AIG of Armament; Margaret Ageb Ochalla, formerly AIG of FCID Annex Lagos; Moham Abdul Sulaiman, formerly AIG of Police Account and Budget; Kenechukwu Onwuemeli, formerly AIG of Zone 15 Maiduguri; and Umar Shehu Nadada, formerly AIG of Zone 14 Katsina. This promotion follows the retirement of eight DIGs, creating vacancies that needed to be filled.

The PSC Chairman, DIG Hashimu Salihu Argungu (rtd), urged the new DIGs to prioritize national security and foster productive working relationships within the commission to ensure the continued development of the NPF.
