Qatar's Ministry of Interior Issues Key Visa Guidelines

Qatar's Ministry of Interior has published essential guidelines for visitors and expatriates to help them navigate the country's entry and residency requirements, stressing that ignorance of the rules does not exempt individuals from financial penalties. The first rule mandates that visitors entering Qatar on a visit visa must confirm their allowed stay duration upon arrival.

For instance, those on a family visit visa are granted a one-month stay and must apply for an extension before the initial period expires to avoid a daily fine of QR 200, capped at QR 12,000. The second rule requires expatriates entering on a residence visa to undergo a medical checkup within 30 days of arrival, followed by fingerprinting to finalize residency procedures.

The third rule pertains to the renewal of residence permits, which must be completed within 90 days of expiration to avoid a daily fine of QR 10, up to a maximum of QR 6,000. These guidelines serve as a crucial reminder for the expatriate community in Qatar.
