Rainstorm Claims Lives of Woman and Granddaughter in Bauchi

On June 10, 2026, a severe rainstorm accompanied by strong winds struck the Kirfi Local Government Area in Bauchi State, leading to the tragic deaths of Aisha Sagir, 50, and her four-year-old granddaughter, Aisha Shuaibu, who resided in Unguwar Katsinawa Bara Village. The Bauchi State Police Command confirmed the incident in a statement issued on Wednesday by spokesperson Nafiu Habib.

The storm resulted in the destruction of several houses and livestock, with damages estimated to be worth millions of naira. Following the incident, the police command dispatched personnel from the Kirfi Division to assess the damage and maintain law and order.

State Commissioner of Police Sani Omolori Aliyu extended condolences to the victims' families and the people of Kirfi Local Government Area. The police urged the public to remain vigilant during the rainy season and to report emergencies to security agencies for swift intervention.
