Sultan of Sokoto Declares First Day of Rajab 2025, Emphasizes Spiritual Preparation

Sultan Muhammad Abubakar of Sokoto has officially declared December 22, 2025, as the first day of Rajab, the seventh month in the Islamic lunar calendar. Rajab precedes Sha'ban and is recognized as a significant time for spiritual reflection, worship, seeking forgiveness, and good deeds in preparation for the holy month.

The Sultan, a respected leader in the Nigerian Muslim community, aims to ensure unity and observance of the lunar calendar. Additionally, during a meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC), Sultan Abubakar clarified misconceptions about Sharia law and emphasized Nigeria's multi-religious and secular nature.
