Minister Allocates N200M to Goronyo LG for Ramadan Support

On Tuesday, the Minister of State for Works, Bello Muhammad, announced the disbursement of N200 million to the Goronyo Local Government Area in Sokoto State. This initiative aims to support vulnerable households facing economic pressures as they prepare for the holy month of Ramadan.

The announcement was made through a statement by his Special Assistant on Media, Abdullahi Moham. The support package consists of substantial cash donations and essential food items, including rice, millet, sugar, guinea corn, and maize.

The breakdown of the disbursement includes N33 million allocated to local government ward executives, with each member receiving N100,000 and N50,000, totaling N1.45 million for local government executives. Ward chairmen across 11 wards received N200,000 each, while other beneficiaries included social media groups, youth associations, elderly community leaders, and women's associations.

Additionally, three trailer loads of rice valued at approximately N90 million and bags of sugar worth N28 million were distributed, alongside large quantities of millet.
