Sokoto First Lady Aids 5,000 Women During Ramadan

On Sunday, Hajiya Fatima Ahmadu Aliyu, the First Lady of Sokoto State, distributed food items to 5,000 women across 23 local government areas. This initiative is designed to assist less privileged women in observing Ramadan by ensuring they have sufficient food for the pre-dawn meal (suhoor) and iftar throughout the fasting period.

The distribution was part of a broader effort by the state government, as highlighted in a press release made available to newsmen. Comrade Abubakar Bawa, the Director General of Media and Publicity to the Governor, emphasized that the gesture aims to ensure that women do not lack food during the fasting period.

Additionally, the First Lady mentioned that the state government has recently provided financial support to assist imams, deputy imams, and muazzins facing physical challenges, as well as widows and orphans, enabling them to observe Ramadan with ease. She assured that the administration will continue to prioritize the welfare of women and children through various support programs.
