Bauchi CAN Urges Peaceful Coexistence During Ramadan and Lent

The Bauchi State Chapter of the Christian Association of Nigeria, under the leadership of Chairman Rev. Abraham Damina Dimeu, has issued a call for continuous peaceful coexistence between Christians and Muslims as they enter the religious observances of Ramadan and Lent in 2026.

The chairman highlighted that the 30-day Ramadan fast for Muslims and the 40-day Lenten period for Christians demonstrate the divine nature of God and the importance of appreciating all of creation. Dimeu emphasized that God desires people to coexist harmoniously, and the overlapping of these two major religious periods is not a coincidence but a divine design.

He urged adherents of both faiths to embrace understanding and unity during this time, which is meant for seeking God's face through religious activities. Furthermore, he stressed the necessity of prayer for peace and successful coexistence in the state, commending the administration of Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed for fostering an environment of religious harmony and tolerance.
