RCCG Donates $265,854 for Nigerian Evacuations from South Africa

The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), led by Pastor Enoch Adejare Adeboye, donated $265,854 to the Federal Government of Nigeria to aid in the evacuation of distressed Nigerians from South Africa. This donation will finance 500 one-way tickets for Nigerians seeking to return home following xenophobic and Afrophobic attacks in South Africa.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, through its spokesperson Oluwafemi Adeniyi, expressed gratitude for the church's significant gesture, highlighting its compassion and commitment to assisting stranded Nigerians. The ongoing evacuation, which began on June 10, 2026, has already brought back 1,640 Nigerian nationals, with 1,385 fully sponsored by the government.

The remaining 255 are being assisted through philanthropic donations. Currently, 202 Nigerians await final screening by South Africa’s Department of Home Affairs.

The ministry emphasized its commitment to addressing xenophobia and Afrophobia and promoting the welfare of Nigerians in the Diaspora, in line with President Bola Tinubu's foreign policy priorities.
