Real Sociedad Extends Matarazzo's Contract Until 2028

Real Sociedad has officially extended the contract of head coach Pellegrino Matarazzo until the end of the 2027-28 season. This decision comes as a reward for Matarazzo's successful leadership in securing the Copa del Rey, marking him as the first American head coach to win a major trophy in one of Europe's top five leagues.

Matarazzo, who is 48 years old, joined the Basque club in December when they were near the La Liga relegation zone. Under his guidance, the team achieved a 10th place finish with 46 points.

Matarazzo expressed that the connection with the people of Gipuzkoa and the club's shared values made it easier for him to integrate. Real Sociedad is set to begin the 2026-27 La Liga campaign against Real Madrid on August 17 at Santiago Bernabéu.
