Reckless Driving Causes Fatal Crash on Lagos-Ibadan Expressway

On Saturday night, April 4, 2026, at approximately 10:10 PM, a tragic accident occurred at Soka Junction, Oluyole Local Government Area, along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway, resulting in the deaths of two individuals and injuries to several others. The Oyo State Police Command reported that the incident involved multiple vehicles, including a Toyota Venza and a BMW, which were damaged in the crash.

Preliminary investigations indicated that a white Howo truck, registered as GOMB GEM 696 XE and driven by Abdullahi Bashiru, lost control due to excessive speed and reckless driving, leading to the truck ramming into pedestrians. The police spokesperson, Olayinka Ayanlad, expressed condolences to the families of the deceased and wished a speedy recovery to the injured victims.
