FAAN Regulates E-Hailing Taxis for Passenger Safety

Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), emphasized that the regulation of e-hailing taxi services at Nigerian airports is primarily aimed at ensuring passenger safety. During a briefing with aviation correspondents in Lagos, Kuku clarified that the initiative was not influenced by Uber's business decisions but was a response to numerous complaints received from passengers regarding their experiences with e-hailing and car-hire services, especially during the busy December holiday period.

She noted that these complaints were significant enough to necessitate stronger oversight of transportation services operating within airport facilities. Kuku stated that FAAN's role is not to dictate which transport company passengers should choose but to guarantee that passengers have adequate information about the operators and drivers they engage with.
