FAAN Clarifies Position on E-Hailing Services at Airports

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) issued a statement clarifying that it has not imposed a blanket ban on e-hailing services at Nigerian airports. This clarification came in response to public concerns regarding the operations of e-hailing companies like Uber and Bolt.

FAAN stated that it is engaged in ongoing discussions with these operators to improve passenger safety, security, and operational coordination. The Authority emphasized that its intention is not to limit transportation options for passengers but to ensure that all commercial transportation services within airport premises operate under a framework that allows for visibility and accountability.

FAAN also addressed misconceptions about its ACHRAMS platform, clarifying that it is not an e-hailing application but rather a system for operational visibility and tracking. The Authority acknowledged the challenges faced around airport premises, such as passenger solicitation and touting, and is working towards a mutually beneficial arrangement with e-hailing operators that prioritizes safety and passenger experience.
