Police Crackdown Eases Sango-Ota Traffic Gridlock

The Ogun State Police Command has successfully alleviated the long-standing traffic gridlock in Sango-Ota, Lagos, following a decisive crackdown on illegal roadside trading and traffic violations. This operation, led by Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni, began on a Sunday morning, resulting in a noticeable improvement in traffic flow.

Previously, the Sango-Ota bridge was synonymous with crippling congestion, but the enforcement drive has transformed the area, allowing vehicles to pass seamlessly. Senior officers, including ACP Shola Oladel, were present to oversee the operation, which targeted critical choke points along the Lagos-Abeokuta Expressway.

The ongoing construction reducing the road from six lanes to two had compounded the congestion issue. Stakeholders have expressed that while the police's efforts have made significant progress, a permanent solution requires the contractor to expedite road expansion work.

The community hopes that the renewed enforcement will sustain the improvements in traffic flow, providing a glimmer of hope for a long-term resolution to the gridlock.
