Ogun State Demolishes Shanties at Sango Tollgate

On Tuesday, the Ogun State Government, under the leadership of Kafayat Lawal, the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Environment, conducted a demolition exercise targeting shanties and makeshift structures along the road setback at Sango Tollgate. This initiative is part of efforts to curb the ongoing traffic accidents in the area, which have raised significant concerns regarding public safety.

The government had previously issued multiple warnings to street vendors to vacate the area. Lawal disclosed that alternative trading locations would be provided for the displaced traders.

The demolition aims to eliminate street trading around the tollgate, which has frequently resulted in accidents and loss of life. The Ogun State Government emphasized its commitment to preventing fatalities and permanent disabilities caused by the dangers associated with street trading in this area.

Anyone found peddling goods near the tollgate bridge will face the full force of the law, as the government collaborates with the Ado Odo Ota Local Government to establish a new market for the traders.
