National Assembly to Commission Christian Chapel in 2026

The National Assembly will commission a Christian chapel with a seating capacity of 750 on March 1, 2026. The event is organized by the Christian Legislators Fellowship and aims to strengthen spiritual fellowship among Christian legislators and staff.

Notable attendees expected include Nigeria's First Lady Oluremi Tinubu, former Head of State Yakubu Gowon, and former Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan. The initiative for the chapel began in May 2019 under the leadership of former Speaker of the House of Representatives Yakubu Dogara.

The chapel is intended to serve as a place of worship and prayer for Christian lawmakers and staff at the National Assembly. The event will also feature prominent Christian leaders and dignitaries, including Archbishop Daniel Okoh, Bishop Francis Wale Oke, and Catholic Bishop Matthew Hassan Kukah, reflecting a moment of thanksgiving and spiritual reflection.
