FG Allocates N11.58bn for Jigawa Social Security Grant

The Jigawa State Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, Hon. Auwal Danladi Sankara, announced that the federal government has released N11.58 billion for the Renewed Hope Social Security Grant Programme, targeting 178,342 beneficiaries across the state. Initially, the programme covered 154,413 less privileged households but was expanded to include more beneficiaries across all 37 local government areas.

Implementation began in January 2026, with 126,639 households settled in the first phase. Currently, the second phase is underway, distributing 25,300 payment cards to registered beneficiaries, with a total grant of N1,997,500,000 allocated.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu increased the grant amount from N10,000 to N25,000 per payment cycle to address current economic conditions. The programme aims to support less privileged families, enhance local micro-economies, and positively impact rural and national productivity, thereby supporting GDP growth.
