Jigawa Receives N11.58bn from FG's Social Grant Initiative

Jigawa State has received a total of N11.58 billion from the Federal Government under the Renewed Hope Social Security Grant and Conditional Cash Transfer (CCT) programme. Auwalu Danladi Sankara, the Commissioner for Special Duties and Humanitarian Affairs, provided this update, noting an increase in the number of households captured under the programme from 154,412 to 178,342.

An additional 25,300 beneficiaries are being covered through the distribution of payment cards, with N1.897 billion expected to be injected into the state upon completion of this process. The first phase of the programme began in January 2026, with 126,636 registered households fully settled.

Card distribution has been completed in 21 local government areas, with subsequent distributions scheduled in various areas throughout August. The intervention aims to provide financial relief to poor households and stimulate local economic activities, benefiting small businesses and vulnerable families.

Sankara commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for increasing the social grant, highlighting its importance for vulnerable Nigerians.
