FG Disburses ₦13 Billion for Tertiary Education Workers

The Federal Government of Nigeria has finalized the disbursement of over ₦13 billion from the Tertiary Institutions Staff Support Fund (TISSF) as part of its commitment to improve the welfare of educational workers. This initiative, which is part of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's Renewed Hope agenda, aims to provide interest-free loans of up to ₦10 million to eligible academic and non-academic staff across 153 public tertiary institutions.

The program is designed to address personal and professional needs, enhancing the overall well-being of educational workers. The next application phase for the TISSF will open at the end of June 2026.

Dr. Maruf Tunji Alausa, the Minister of Education, described the program as a critical component of the ministry's broader educational reform agenda.

The successful completion of the 2025-2026 phase demonstrates strong demand and positive impact, with 42,000 applications processed. The initiative also aims to promote equitable access and increase participation among female staff.
