Kalu Urges Journalists to Report Positively on Nigeria

On Thursday, during the inauguration of the newly elected executive press corps of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker, charged Nigerian journalists to project a positive image of Nigeria. He stated that there are opportunities within the country that can help citizens believe in the nation’s democracy.

Kalu, representing Speaker Abba Tajudeen, acknowledged that while journalists have the right to criticize the government, they should also focus on the positive aspects of Nigeria. He encouraged the press to tell good stories about the current administration and to commit to better reporting.

Gboyega Onadiran, the chairman of the new executive press corps, expressed a desire for all members to be dedicated to improving the press corps. Kalu's remarks highlight the critical role of media in shaping public perception and fostering national pride.
