Edo Journalists Forum Urges Accountability from LG Chairmen

The Benin Journalists Forum called for transparent, accountable, and inclusive leadership from the newly elected chairmen across Edo South Senatorial District. This statement was made on Friday, congratulating the chairmen-elect on their recent victories in the local government elections.

The forum, represented by its Convener Comrade Edosa Okunbor and Secretary Elder Patrick Ahanor, described the election results as a demonstration of public confidence. They urged the chairmen-elect to justify their mandates through visionary and people-oriented leadership.

Key areas of focus should include the provision of basic infrastructure, quality healthcare, education, environmental sanitation, youth and women empowerment, security, and job creation. The forum also advised the incoming council chairmen to adopt an open-door policy, engage all stakeholders regardless of political affiliation, and manage public resources prudently for the benefit of their local government areas.

Additionally, the forum reaffirmed its commitment to promoting developmental journalism in the region.
