Reps Strengthen Laws for Nigeria's Tourism Sector

The House of Representatives, under the leadership of Hon. Arc Muhammad Muktar, is taking steps to enhance the legal framework governing Nigeria's tourism sector.

This initiative aims to improve regulations and drive economic growth. A significant event, the 2026 National Hospitality and Tourism Stakeholders Forum, will focus on the theme "Shape the Future of Nigerian Tourism Together." The forum is designed to foster dialogue and align strategies among stakeholders, with the goal of catalyzing actions that will lead to growth in the tourism sector.

The proposed bill will place tourism-related matters on the concurrent list, addressing bottlenecks in the sector. Ola Awakan, the Director General of the Nigerian Tourism Development Authority (NTDA), emphasized that the tourism sector relies on three pillars: hospitality, transport, and the promotion of Nigeria's rich natural and cultural heritage.

The aim is to develop and manage Nigeria's immense tourism potential effectively.
