Reps Suspend NILDS DG Probe Hearing Over Evidence Issues

The House of Representatives has suspended the hearing regarding the probe of the Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS) due to a lack of sufficient documentary evidence. The committee, chaired by Mr.

Yusuf Galambi, stated that it could not proceed with the investigation because the petition did not provide adequate supporting documents. The investigation was initiated following a motion adopted by the House, which aimed to uphold constitutional and administrative rules guiding public office conduct in the electoral process.

Mr. Galambi advised that the petitioners must submit additional evidence, including records of political party nomination forms linked to the Director-General.

Despite the absence of the Director-General, the committee maintained that its work would not be hindered. Mr.

Harrison Anozi expressed concerns regarding the Director-General's failure to honor the committee's invitation, while Mr. Chinedu Obika inquired about the possession of video evidence related to the allegations.
