2025 Governor Douye Diri Wrestling Classics Rescheduled

The 2025 Governor Douye Diri National Wrestling Classics is set to be held in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, from March 25 to April 1, 2026. This event was originally scheduled for December 10-20, 2025, but was postponed following the untimely death of the Deputy Governor of Bayelsa State.

The new date has been confirmed, and arrangements for the championship have been concluded successfully. The Bayelsa State Government, in collaboration with the Nigeria Wrestling Federation led by its President Dr.

Bashir Adeniyi, is putting in place the necessary modalities for a world-class event, with strong support from sponsors and partners. The championship will feature participation from 30 states and 10 clubs, highlighting its significance.

The games will be held in a well-prepared game village, ensuring athletes' welfare and optimal performance conditions. This championship will also serve as a selection platform for Nigeria's representatives at the African Wrestling Championship in Alexandria, Egypt, scheduled for late April to early May 2026.
