Edo Police Launch Rescue After Deadly Bus Attack

On April 18, 2026, at approximately 18:00 hours, a commercial bus belonging to GUO Transport Company was attacked by unknown armed men along the Lagos-Benin Expressway near Iguobazuwa, Edo State. During the attack, the driver sustained fatal injuries, and three passengers were abducted and taken into a nearby forest.

Eno Ikoedem, the spokesperson for the Edo State Police Command, confirmed that a female passenger was injured by gunfire and was taken to an undisclosed hospital for treatment, where she is responding positively. Following the incident, the police launched a swift rescue operation, with the Commissioner of Police, Mondai Agbonika, ordering a coordinated search involving the Anti-Kidnap Unit and local hunters.

The police assured the public of their commitment to rescuing the victims and bringing the perpetrators to justice, urging cooperation with security agencies during ongoing operations.
