Kogi Police Rescue Four Abducted School Students

On July 14, 2026, four individuals, including two female candidates and a school principal, were abducted by armed bandits during an attack on Government Secondary School Olowa Agbajo in Dekina Local Government Area, Kogi State. The victims were taking part in the ongoing National Examinations Council (NECO) examinations.

Following the incident, a massive deployment of security personnel was ordered by Kogi State Governor Ahm Usman Ododo. On July 16, 2026, the Kogi State Police Command, led by Commissioner Bello Kankarofi, announced the successful rescue of the four victims during a press conference at the command headquarters in Lokoja.

The operation involved a joint security team, including the Nigerian Army and local vigilante groups, who conducted intensive bush combing operations. Fortunately, no lives were lost during the rescue, and the victims were reunited with appropriate authorities for necessary care and support.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing, with allegations of complicity by certain individuals being explored.
