Nigerian Resident Doctors Declare Nationwide Indefinite Strike

The Nigerian Association of Resident Doctors (NARD) has announced a nationwide indefinite strike effective from October 31, 2025, citing unaddressed welfare and administrative concerns by the federal government. The decision was made following a 30-day ultimatum that expired without satisfactory resolutions.

Dr. Mohammad Usman Suleiman, the association's president, highlighted the failure of the government to engage effectively despite assurances.

The strike action aims to compel authorities to act on the doctors' demands, including improved working conditions. The NARD has accused certain elements of attempting to weaken their bargaining power.
