Anambra Residents Demand Action Amid Severe Flooding Crisis

Residents in Anambra State, particularly in Ogidi and Ifite Awka, are experiencing severe flooding due to continuous rainfall, which has submerged homes and farmland. The flooding has led families to seek refuge in upland areas, prompting calls for intervention from the state government.

The situation has drawn attention from local youth and traditional leadership, who describe the impact as increasingly severe. The Foursquare Gospel Church in Ifite Awka, led by Rev. Sam Ufo, reported significant damage, including the destruction of musical instruments and church records.

Local residents attribute the flooding to poor town planning and inadequate drainage systems. The chairman of the street, Uzo Umejieg, expressed concern over the loss of valuable property and the potential for loss of life if the situation is not urgently addressed.
