Ogun Residents Flee After Six Killed in Kidnapping Attempt

Residents of Ajerogun, Magbon, and Etido in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State, fled their homes following a failed kidnapping attempt that left six people dead. The Ogun State Police Command confirmed that the attack, which occurred during the early hours of Monday, involved gunmen attempting to abduct a Chinese national working at a dredging site.

The incident resulted in the deaths of a soldier and four local hunters during a gunfight. Local residents reported that the gunmen, believed to be Fulani, ambushed the area, leading to a chaotic response from local hunters and security forces.

Nurudeen Salisu, a resident, recounted that the attack began around 10 AM, with gunfire erupting as local hunters responded to the situation. The police arrived at the scene several hours later, raising concerns about security and the potential for similar attacks, as a similar kidnapping incident had occurred three years prior.
