Ogun Residents Demand Urgent Repair of Failed Roads

Residents in Ogun State's Agbado and Abul Ijoko communities are expressing their frustrations over the deteriorating condition of roads that have been neglected for 15 years. During a visit on Tuesday, it was observed that the 13-kilometer stretch connecting these communities is largely impassable, with parts completely collapsed and overgrown with weeds.

Motorists and pedestrians struggle to navigate the numerous craters and waterlogged gullies, leading to frequent breakdowns of vehicles and motorcycles. The situation has been exacerbated by the construction of a train station that began in 2017, which has led to heavy-duty trucks damaging the roads further.

Residents report that the poor road conditions have made them vulnerable to attacks by hoodlums, especially at night. They have called on the government for urgent intervention, citing blocked drainage channels and footbridges that contribute to flooding.

The state Commissioner for Works, Akinsanya, has not responded to requests for comments regarding the situation.
