Residents of Ogun Community Struggle with Power Supply Issues

Residents of Christ Avenue Community in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Ogun State, have expressed frustration over erratic power supply that disrupts their daily activities and businesses. The community experiences irregular electricity availability, sometimes having power for a few days followed by outages lasting several days.

Folashewa, a fashion designer, reported that the unstable supply has raised her business expenses as she relies on gas and charcoal for ironing clothes. Mummy Zakariya mentioned difficulties in food preservation, forcing her to buy food items in smaller quantities.

Mr. Mathew stated he spends approximately N10,000 weekly on fuel for his generator due to the erratic supply, which adds financial pressure.

He noted that the Ibadan Electricity Distribution Company (IBEDC) informed him that the community only receives a limited electricity capacity from their headquarters. Angela Olanrewaju, IBEDC Head of Corporate Affairs, directed inquiries to Media Relations Officer Daniel Adugbo, who had not responded by the time of the report.
