Sowunmi Urges Wike to Leave APC for PDP Presidential Bid

Segun Sowunmi, a chieftain of the People's Democratic Party (PDP), has urged Nyesom Wike, the current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory and former Governor of Rivers State, to resign from his ministerial role and fully rejoin the PDP to pursue his long-standing presidential ambitions. Sowunmi made this call during a podcast, highlighting Wike's unusual position as a strong figure within the PDP while serving in the current administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

He noted that Wike's continued influence within the party is crucial for shaping future electoral decisions. Sowunmi pointed out that Wike had previously shown interest in becoming president during the PDP primary elections in 2023 but was unsuccessful.

Despite setbacks, Wike's ability to maintain relevance within the PDP is evident, and Sowunmi believes that if Wike truly wants to lead the country, he must take the logical step of leaving his current ministerial position.
