Retired Naval Officer Ojowu Enters Benue 2027 Guber Race

Retired naval officer Ojowu has declared his intention to run for governor of Benue State in the 2027 elections. He made this announcement during a press conference in Makurdi, where he expressed his desire to leverage his military intelligence experience to address the prevailing insecurity in the state.

Ojowu, who is 63 years old and hails from the Benue South Senatorial District, highlighted that the region has yet to produce a governor since the state's creation. He aims to implement a development agenda that will attract federal support and enhance socio-economic growth.

A central part of his strategy includes establishing a grassroots defense brigade to complement existing security agencies in curbing persistent attacks in rural communities. Acknowledging insecurity as the greatest obstacle to agricultural investment and overall economic progress in Benue, Ojowu is currently consulting with political stakeholders and community leaders, although he has not yet announced his political platform.
