ACF Warns Tinubu's Government on 2027 Election Risks

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has issued a warning to President Bola Tinubu's government and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding potential risks associated with the upcoming 2027 elections. In an interview with Leadership newspaper, ACF spokesman Muhammad Baba expressed concerns about recent developments in Nigeria's electoral process, particularly referencing the INEC's derecognition of the leadership of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) led by David Mark.

Baba highlighted that a proposed voter revalidation exercise could undermine democratic stability and erode public confidence in the electoral system. He noted that these risks could create uncertainty ahead of the next general elections, stressing that Nigeria is already grappling with worsening insecurity and economic challenges.

The ACF urged the federal government and political actors to retrace their steps and adhere to the fundamental principles of democracy to avoid exacerbating the current political tensions.
