ACF Warns Tinubu, INEC on Risks to 2027 Elections

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF) has issued a strong warning to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) regarding recent political developments that could jeopardize the 2027 general elections. ACF's spokesperson, Muhammad Baba, expressed concern over decisions made within the electoral space, specifically mentioning issues surrounding the African Democratic Congress (ADC) and reports of leadership changes under David Mark.

The forum highlighted the potential for a voter revalidation exercise to create uncertainty in the political environment, which could weaken public trust in the electoral process and cast doubt on the credibility of future elections. Baba emphasized that if the situation remains unchecked, it may trigger tensions across the country.

He urged the government and INEC to act cautiously and adhere to democratic principles, stating that any actions perceived as politically motivated could deepen divisions and reduce confidence in governance ahead of the 2027 elections.
